Open, the Duo is 7.6 inches with Split View for two apps. Closed, its 5.4-inch screen is smaller than the 6.9-inch Pro Max.
Three cameras with a 4x telephoto, plus an 18MP selfie camera. The Duo has two cameras and 2x zoom cropped from the main sensor.
Up to 45 hours of video on the Pro Max. The Duo does 44 closed and 31 open. Use the big screen a lot and the Max lasts longer.

For most people, the 18 Pro Max is still the smarter phone: better camera, Face ID, thinner in a pocket. Get the Duo if the big screen is the whole point.
