Its 5x telephoto gives real optical zoom for concerts, pets, sports and kids across the playground, and Super Res Zoom reaches up to 20x. The Pixel 9 tops out at 8x Super Res Zoom using its main camera, with optical quality only at 0.5x, 1x and 2x.

If you mostly shoot at 1x and 0.5x, the Pixel 9 has the stronger hardware. Its 50MP main camera uses a larger sensor than the Pixel 10's 48MP main camera, which helps in low light. Its 48MP ultra wide has autofocus and handles Macro Focus close-ups. The Pixel 10's ultra wide is 13MP, though the Pixel 10 can still do Macro Focus with its main camera.

Both phones share Google's camera features like Night Sight, Add Me, Best Take and Magic Eraser. Google's Pixel 10 spec sheet also lists Camera Coach, which gives tips while you frame a shot. It is not on the Pixel 9 spec sheet.
