Apple Watch Series 6 quick answers

When did the Apple Watch Series 6 come out?

The Apple Watch Series 6 came out in September 2020. It launched alongside the Apple Watch SE (1st gen). It runs on the S6 chip.

What is the difference between the Apple Watch Series 6 and the Apple Watch Series 7?

The main differences are the case sizes (40mm, 44mm vs 41mm, 45mm) and chip (S6 vs S7).

What decides your Apple Watch Series 6 trade-in value

  • Size and connectivity. We buy the Apple Watch Series 6 as 40mm GPS, 40mm GPS + Cellular, 44mm GPS and 44mm GPS + Cellular. Larger cases and cellular models usually pay more.
  • Condition. Scratches, dents and cracks move your offer down a grade. The table above shows what each grade pays.
  • Battery health. Like new needs 85% or more and Good needs 80% or more.
  • Locks. The watch must be unpaired from your iPhone, which turns off Activation Lock, and not reported lost or stolen.

How to check that you have an Apple Watch Series 6

On your iPhone, open the Watch app, then My Watch, then General, then About. Tap Model Number to show the A-number, then find it on Apple's Apple Watch model list, which shows the model and case size. The case size is also engraved on the back of the watch.

How to get your Apple Watch Series 6 ready to sell

  1. Unpair it from your iPhone. On your iPhone, open the Watch app, then My Watch, then All Watches. Tap the info button next to your watch, then Unpair Apple Watch. This removes Activation Lock. Erasing the watch on its own does not.
  2. Remove the cellular plan when asked during unpairing, and cancel it with your carrier.
  3. Already gave away your iPhone? Go to iCloud.com, then Find My, then All Devices, pick the watch, then Erase Apple Watch, and remove it from your account.

When is the best time to sell your Apple Watch Series 6?

Sooner is usually better. Trade-in values tend to fall as devices age, and often drop when a newer model comes out. Our offers move with the market. When you get a quote, that price is locked in while you ship.
